Campus and Community Resources

There are many offices and people on campus and in the community who are here to help you adjust to life at MSU, succeed in your classes, and stay healthy and happy.

Campus Resources

Gender and Sexuality Resource Center

The Gender and Sexuality Campus Center is a student-centered campus resource that works to celebrate, affirm, and empower LGBTQIA2S+ members of the Michigan State University community. Through education, engagement, advocacy, and student support, we work to create an inclusive campus culture for people of all genders and sexual identities. We provide intersectional educational and social programming and collaborate with student leaders and campus partners to build community and increase a sense of belonging.

MSU Student Parent Resource Center

The MSU Student Parent Resource Center offers a supportive environment to obtain information and resources for ALL student parents and their families on and off campus. Our staff combines expertise and experience in college course instruction, academic advising, and referrals to community resources for a variety of services.

Neighborhood Engagement Centers

The Engagement Centers are unique spaces located in each neighborhood and serve as the main access points to important resources such as neighborhood advisors, tutors, help rooms, health practitioners, and other resources that can help you navigate through your college career.

Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions

The Office of Cultural and Academic Transitions (OCAT) supports students in navigating cross-cultural encounters and in their own understanding, exploration and development of cultural identity.

Institutional Diversity and Inclusion

IDI partners with senior executives, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to support the safety, well-being and overall success of members of historically underrepresented and disadvantaged groups and offers a broad spectrum of educational and training opportunities which promote a culture of dignity, respect, empathy and accountability at MSU.

Office of the University Ombudsperson
Whether you are a student, faculty member, or staff, the Office of the University Ombudsperson offers a confidential place to discuss both academic and nonacademic concerns including, administrative issues, workplace issues, or any concern that may relate to Michigan State University students. We also interpret and explain university policies and procedures. Here, you can speak freely because the Office of the University Ombudsperson offers an environment where you can talk with a confidential and impartial resource about a complaint, conflict or problem.

Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities

If you are a student or employee at MSU, and you have a disability that substantially limits a major life activity, you can register with the RCPD and you may be eligible to receive accommodations.

Community Resources

Community Volunteers for International Programs (CVIP)

CVIP promotes mutual cross-cultural education, understanding, appreciation and friendship between the greater Lansing community and Michigan State University's international students, scholars and their families through a variety of programs and services, which are free and open to all MSU international students and scholars.

Some of these programs include:

  • International Friendship Program
  • International Student Lending Center
  • Volunteer English Tutoring Program.

Through these programs, participants form valuable connections, learn about U.S. American connections and thrive at MSU.

East Lansing Public Library

The East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) is available for students and scholars to access a variety of tools including books, movies, music, magazines, newspapers, science kits, e-books, digital magazines, streaming movies, TV shows, music, and audiobooks. Aside from the numerous resources, the ELPL also hosts a variety of events throughout the year that welcome international students and scholars.
