Orientation

The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) extends a warm welcome to all new international students. We hope your experience here is positive and we look forward to working with you in the year ahead. You are about to join Michigan State University's international community. MSU enrolls more than 7,000 international students and has a rich tradition as an institution with a global perspective. Your presence enriches the campus in countless ways.

OISS coordinates and administers programs that serve international students, faculty, and visitors to the MSU community. Our advising staff is aware of the demands associated with studying in another country and we have experience in meeting the special needs of international students. We invite you to visit our office when we can be of assistance to you. Some of our services include:

  • Advising and assistance with immigration issues
  • Making referrals to other campus services to assist you
  • Helping to connect you to the community
  • Serving as a liaison with foreign embassies and consulates

The International Academic Orientation Program is designed to help introduce you to the campus, its special services, and to assist students and many of the people who will become your friends during your time in East Lansing. We hope you will take full advantage of all the International Academic Orientation Program activities.

Best wishes for success in the year ahead.

Sincerely,
Peter Briggs, Director
