Financial aid

There are limited financial resources available to international students at MSU. Loan and grant programs are either short term or to be used as degree completion loans. These financial packages are not designed to support your full academic program at MSU.


OISS Grants & Scholarships
Emergency Tuition Award (PDF)*
For a limited number of international students who experience financial hardship in the last two semesters of their degree program. Application deadlines: Spring semester: January 10; Fall semester: September 10

International Student Employment Assistance (ISEA)
To assist international students who wish to find quality on-campus employment opportunities by subsidizing the cost of wages to on-campus employers.

International Student Essay Contest
Win prize money by writing an essay about your experiences as an international student in the United States .

Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship Grant Program
For African students at MSU who intend to contribute to the development of their home country. Women are strongly urged to apply.

I. C. Shah Endowed Scholarship (PDF)*
To assist students from India and to further MSU'S compelling interest in obtaining the educational benefits that flow from a racially and ethnically diverse student body

Community Volunteers For International Programs (CVIP) Scholarship
To assist MSU international student by providing a tuition grant of 3 credit hours.

Walker Hill International
To be used for pre-dissertation visits to the site of doctoral research outside of the U.S. (For international students, research in one's own country does not qualify.)

Whittier Endowed International Health Scholarship Fund
To fund international health research by MSU graduate or medical students. 

Gliozzo Internship Scholarship (PDF)*
Provides financial support for undergraduate MSU Domestic and International students to participate in approved accreditedinternship programs.

Institute of International Education (IIE)
Administers scholarship programs and provides information on resources for international students.

World Bank Scholarship Program
Scholarships available to applicants mainly from developing countries who intend to pursue a career in a development field.

Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund
Offered to support the education of women from developing countries.

Altrusa International Foundation
Open to women from developing countries who are seeking graduate degrees at recognized colleges or universities in the US .

American Association of Women (AAUW) International Fellowships
Awards support international women for graduate or postgraduate study.

P.E.O International Peace Scholarship Fund
Provides scholarships for international women to pursue graduate study in the United States or Canada .

International Education Financial Aid (IEFA)
Search financial aid, college scholarship and grant information for US and international students wishing to study abroad.

Arab Student Aid International
Assists Arab students in upgrading the academic and experience levels at reputed universities, and play a dynamic role in their social, cultural and economic development of their homelands.


MSU Resources
Short-term Loan (STL)
Office of Financial Aid provides short term loans for international students. Visit OISS for an advisor's recommendation.
