    Reminder: Emergency Tuition Award deadline approaching Published: Tuesday, 04 Sep 2012

    The Emergency Tuition Award program is administered by OISS to provide emergency tuition assistance to a limited number of international students who have experienced unexpected financial need, which they are unable to meet with available financial resources. Amounts awarded are typically for 1 to 3 credits of tuition and fees.

    The Office for International Students and Scholars, like other offices at Michigan State University, will close at 3pm on Friday 8/31 due to campus preparations for the first evening football game of the year. The office hours will also be closed on Monday 9/03 in observance of Labor Day and will resume as normal at 8am on Tuesday 9/04.

    Apply for a driver's license on campus Published: Friday, 24 Aug 2012

    OISS is offering several opportunities for you to apply on MSU’s campus for a Michigan Driver’s License and to take the required written test ofa Michigan driving laws. If you wish to apply for a Driver’s License, you may begin the process on campus. However, there are a few steps that must be completed off campus. Please note that applications for State of Michigan Identification Cards will not be accepted on campus.

    OISS has learned that some new and returning international students and scholars are experiencing unexpected difficulties in applying for social security numbers and State of Michigan drivers licenses. These difficulties are being experienced nationwide and are not unique to MSU. This problem is believed to be temporary and will hopefully be resolved shortly

    As a new international undergraduate student at Michigan State University, you must attend two mandatory orientations: the International Student Orientation (Immigration Requirements) and the Academic Orientation Program (Enrolling in classes) if eligible. Failure to attend BOTH of these orientations could result in a loss of your immigration status and an inability to enroll in classes.
