Posted By: Mara Therese Ohorodnik    Published: Monday, 23 Mar 2015

OISS would like to announce and welcome our new Director, James Dorsett, who joined our team on March 16, 2015. James has worked with international students and scholars for over 20 years. He comes to us from Iowa State University where he led a staff of thirteen full time employees and numerous student workers since 2006. There they serve over 4,500 international students and scholars. He also spent four years with Wayne State University directing a similar office serving over 3,500 international students and scholars. He is an active member of NAFSA: Association for International Educators where he has helped write training curricula for new student and scholar advisors and liaised with an immigration service center on behalf of the membership.

In our “10 Fun Facts About James,” he shared that his favorite thing about MSU so far is, “Meeting the students who work in OISS and finding out all the cool things they are doing or will do after they graduate.” You can read more about James on our blog OISS Live.

James attended his first Coffee Hour last week where he introduced himself and met international students to learn more about the amazing things they are accomplishing while here at MSU. James enjoyed meeting the international community and looks forward to meeting more students and scholars in the near future!

Again, OISS is pleased to welcome James as the new Director and we look forward to the wonderful things he will accomplish here at MSU!
