Driver's License and Social Security Number sessions next week

On both Monday, August 26th and Tuesday, August 27th students who wish to obtain a Michigan Driver’s License may start their administrative processing and take the required written test at a convenient on-campus location. (Note: Those who wish to obtain a Michigan Identification Card should visit the Secretary of State branch directly.) Bring ORIGINAL and PHOTOCOPIES of the following documents:

  • Passport
  • I-20 or DS-2019
  • I-94 record
  • Social Security Card or Letter of Ineligibility
  • Two forms of Michigan residency documents

On Tuesday, August 27th students who wish to obtain a Social Security Number (SSN) may start their administrative processing at a convenient on-campus location. Please note that F-1 students must have employment before applying for an SSN. J-1 students and scholars are eligible. People in any status may obtain a Letter of Ineligibility for use during a Driver’s License or State Identification Card application. Full event details: http://oiss.isp.msu.edu/events/?id=45150

Bring ORIGINAL and PHOTOCOPIES of the following documents:

  • Passport
  • I-20 or DS-2019 
  • I-94 record
  • Proof of employment (required for F-1 students)

If you are not eligible for an SSN but wish to apply for either a Michigan Driver's License or Michigan Identification Card, you are also welcome to come to the application session and request a "letter of ineligibility", which can be used toward your driver's license or identification card application.
